  Are JW taking advantage of so called "worldly" people?

  i hope this is not offensive in anyway, but i have a freind whos jw and i have an idea of the concept of "worldly" people, this may sound stupid but i personally think that they "use" or take advantage of the worldly system of things.

  not that i am a jw or have been one to know how it works, or what they are permitted to do.

  but here is my question.

  What about food? I have heard of witnesses going to various corporate restaurants and eating. I also know of witnesses that buy, clothes and wear them. Just kidding with you truthissimple. On the real tho I know of a lot of witnesses who take advantage of worldly people, as they say, by using them for various perks and freebies they can get, but in any other social settings they will not be seen with these people. To me this is vary two faced, they use people for freebies but wont give them the time of day.

  Univeral sovernty

  i was reading a thread about how the universe with its billions of galaxies and stars, is basically on hold while we wait for this lil issue of universal sovernty to be solved.

  then i got to thinking, even if armegedon came this year and wiped satan out...we still have to wait on his appeal.

  when you think about it the thousand year reign is essentially satan sitting on death row waiting while his lawyers work out and exhaust his appeal options.

  in the section for tonight's study there is the famous picture of the watchtower officials sent to jail.

  among them is g h fisher.

  isn't he the one who turned apostate in the late 20s or 30s and was very bitter against rutherford - or am i mixing him up with someone else?

  but i haven't gone preaching or meetings like in 8 months.

  i moved away to college and had my publisher card sent last week to a local congregation which i've only attended twice.

Here is a question for the deep thinkers out there. How long do you think the appeal case will last? The crimes he commited against Jehovah's sovernty was allowed to last some 6,000 years according to WT$ teaching. If satan has been allowed this much time to initially prove his point about human rule, how much time will be givin him on the appeal?

  is this a new phenomenon, or have there always been those of you in the truth, who don't really believe everything the politburo in brooklyn says, and stay basically because of your families and friends?

  we were never really encouraged to seek out friendships outside of the kingdom hall, even on the inside we were cautioned against those of our brothers and sisters.

  how do you cope, splitting off from between your life in the kingdom hall and what you really know to be the truth regarding the wtb&ts?

  I think it has to do with what I call the shawshank principle. I'm sure many have seen the movie shawshank redemtion. In this movie we hear of someone who has been in jail so long he looks to its bars for protection and comfort, he becomes institutionalized. I think this can happen with many witnesses. you can see that its not the truth both in what they teach and how they treat their own. But, because of the fact that this is a religion that while confining and lying to them all those years, they still look to it for protection and comfort.

  Have you been enjoying the Daniel Book?

  the society's reasoning on the book of daniel gets pretty thin in on chapter 15............it jumps from the time of the romans under aurelian, all the way to britain, germany, etc.

  within one verse.. jesus applied daniel 11: 31 to the time of the roman siege and the destruction of jerusalem....but of course the society adds to this and includes an entire modern fulfillment which requires a large amount of "faith" in their interpretation.. none of the events they talk about in chapter 15 are reflected in any meaningful way in daniel's prophecy...........i get the impression even our conductor is just going through the motions on this chapter.. the logic gets better in verse 43 of chapter 11............regarding the "treasures of egypt, the libyans, and the ethiopians..............and trying to apply this to our time.. have any of you been enjoying the daniel book?

  Daniel P I have to take exception to your statement that the daniel book is the most convoluted mass of horse sh#@ from the WTS. The Isaiah books, Now that was some BS. The fact that they streched that garbage into two installment was unbearable. I am sure that they will never study those books at the BS again, it had to be responsible for at least half a million publishers going dark.

  do you believe that the wts is being protected assisted and guided by demonic powers despite their claim that they are strictly associated only with god and his spirit?

  i personally think it is not a coincidence that many things happen in their favour it is for example the demons that fight the "apostates" to prevent them from damaging the wts by exposing their wrong doing.

  they also help blind and mislead ppl to enter this destructive cult.

  the notes are from the co meeting with elders & ms 2006 service year outline.

  the topics from wts are sense of urgency, higher education, independent thinking, marital arrg, invalid baptisms.. sense of urgency - concern among fds that some are losing their urgency, they don't believe we're in the last days.
